Hermitage Farm is located on the Hamilton Highway and includes nearly 4km of Barwon River frontage. The farm was for many years intensively farmed with wine grapes, fruit, vegetables and sheep and cattle enterprises. Unfortunately, this meant the vast majority of native vegetation was cleared and the river banks were extensively damaged.
In the past 10 years the Cameron family have been working hard to restore vital habitat with planting over 50,000 native tree’s, shrubs and grass species with a particular focus on restoring the river banks. The firewood business supports this important activity with a commitment to plant a minimum of 10 native plants for every tonne of firewood delivered.
We also commit to donating 5% of proceeds to the Barrabool Hills Landcare Group to help support Landcare activity throughout the catchment area.
